President:

Fran Hammond
e-mail Fran

Fran grew up near Dayton Ohio, she started her school days collection of stamps during the depression when there were few stamps and you could gather your stamps with a dime and a match book cover, cereal box tops etc. After attending Miami University and Philadelphia School of Occupational Therapy, she worked at La Garde General Army Hospital and the Veterans Hospital in New Orleans, LA while her husband Dean attended LSU Medical School. A classmate renewed our interest in stamps and Fran collected Latin America for the next 25 years.

In 1990 inspired by her life long interest in butterflies, she started that collection joining the ATA and its Biology Unit. In the first issue of Biophilately she recieved there was a plea for a publisher so a new volunteer for the Unit was acquired. This is a position she stillholds along with the same job for the Philatelic Lepidopists Assoc. along with being that association's Secty. and Treas. plus being the current President of the Biology Unit. Except for the first year she has attended all of anual meetings and has enjoyed seeing old friends and meeting new ones.

With several moves to different states the Hammond's finally settled in Ogden, Utah for 35 years and after Dean's death Fran recently moved to Cortez CO.
